Every year Americans await one of
the most talked about events of the year, the SuperBowl. Weather people are rooting for their team,
enjoying the commercials, or just having fun socializing and eating snacks at a
party, this event grabs the attention from our nation. Since the SuperBowl is a
main time for socializing and the best commercials stir up a lot of
conversation, Social media is a perfect way for companies to increase the
publicity on their ads. When incorporating social media companies can keep
track of customer’s opinions and generate more buzz on the advertisement. This
SuperBowl the majority of the popular commercials contained some form of social
media connection. However the commercial that did the best job in my opinion
was " Budweiser SuperBowl Ad- The Clydesdales: "Brotherhood" "
This commercial not only used #Clydesdales
but also added interaction by asking customers to “help name the baby Clydesdale
seen in this commercial” by tweeting the name using the hashtag to @Budweiser. After
seeing this I went on twitter and quickly saw that a few of my friends had already
tweeted about this ad. I then re-tweeted one of my friends who had just used
the hashtag and clicked the hashtag to see what others were saying. The first
thing that popped up was a picture of the baby Clydesdale that was seen in the
ad and restated the question of what should its name be. I think Budweiser did
an amazing job incorporating twitter into their SuperBowl commercial and
generated a surge of tweets to their page. Since the SuperBowl commercials are
incredibly expensive, incorporating social media definitely helped Budweiser
increase the productivity of their ad and increase the awareness of their
twitter account.
